September 25, 2026 — Going Back Home
A new day begins.
Another Day Looking for a Job
In the morning, I took my daughter to school and started another day.
I drove my wife to buy some fruit to offer at her company office. Today is the 15th day of the lunar month.
Back home, I continued sending out CVs and applying for jobs.
It’s been two weeks now, and there doesn’t seem to be much sign that I will find a job anytime soon.
So I have started applying to places farther away.
I have to accept the possibility that I won’t be able to come home and see my wife and children very often.
It’s not what I want, but perhaps it’s something I have to consider.
A Little More Work on the Website
At around 10 a.m., I spent some time working on the website again.
I added a few more icons and worked on the logo.
It doesn’t look too bad.
It’s still very simple, but slowly, it is beginning to look like something.
A Difficult Conversation
My wife and I had a simple meal just to get through the day.
In the afternoon, my wife happened to see me applying for jobs.
She was quite angry because I had applied for a position more than a hundred kilometers away from home.
I honestly didn’t understand.
If I can’t find a job near home, isn’t this simply what I have to do?
I don’t think it should be such a big deal.
But perhaps I was looking at it too simply.
I still need to think carefully about this particular job.
It seemed that she had been crying.
Haizzz.
The Timing Could Not Have Been Worse
Ironically, on the very day I applied, the company contacted me.
Perhaps they wanted to arrange an interview.
Why did it have to happen at exactly this moment?
If I replied to the message now, it felt like I might end up arguing with my wife again.
So I decided to leave it for now.
I’ll figure out another way.
Going Back Home
At 4 p.m., I picked up my younger daughter from school, and the whole family went back to our hometown.
I finally saw my older daughter.
It had only been a few weeks since I last saw her, but she had already become so chubby.
She even hugged and kissed her dad.
She’s really growing up.
So adorable.
Her birthday is coming soon too.
Mid-Autumn Festival at Home
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration back home was really fun.
Even so, I still wasn’t really in the mood.
I left my wife and the girls at my in-laws’ house and went back to my parents’ house to spend some time with my parents and my older brother’s family.
When my nieces and nephews saw their uncle come home, they all started showing me their candy and snacks.
Being back at my parents’ house felt incredibly relaxing.
The road and the river in front of the house are being rebuilt, so everything is dusty and chaotic.
But somehow, just being home made me feel lighter.
A Mooncake for Everyone
At 9 p.m., I went to pick up my wife and our two daughters.
There was still a group of people sitting around and drinking.
I quietly avoided them because I didn’t want to drink or have to turn down everyone’s invitations.
I just wanted to pick up my wife and daughters and go home.
Back at my parents’ house, we gave the girls some mooncake.
There was a huge fish-shaped mooncake.
It was delicious.
It was a wonderful cake.
And somehow, it felt like a small, wonderful moment at the end of a complicated day.
I hope something wonderful comes to all of us.
Mid-Autumn Festival, 2026.
